Good news from the Cancer Institute NSW. The state government has announced it will invest $30 million in seven new "Translational Cancer Research Hubs" over the next decade. The program, managed by Cancer Institute NSW, will see big, resource-intensive research facilities opened in metropolitan and regional sites across the state. Each centre will commit to sharing its knowledge, resources and equipment with institutions and research partners around Australia and internationally. To find out more about what's happening in cancer care in New South Wales, go to the Cancer Institute NSW website: www.cancerinstitute.org.au

And if you have any news about practical improvements in cancer care in your area, please leave your comments here (especially if you.

Cancer Council NSW has just launched a free ‘Understanding Brain Cancer’ DVD to help patients, carers, families and friends find answers and better understand the disease.

The DVD features interviews with those who have experience with the disease including other patients, health professionals and the country’s top experts. It is also available online here - http://bit.ly/yx6cjF

We really hope that this helps patients, irrespective of where you are in your cancer journey.

You can order a copy by calling the Cancer Council Helpline on 13 11 20. For more information, visit www.cancercouncil.com.au/brain-cancer and you can read our Director Gillian Batt's blog on brain cancer support needs here http://bit.ly/z2lDSa too.

This is definitely a good new. There are many different forms of cancer. Their manifestation is a growth of cells and tissues, which differ in various aspects from the surrounding tissue. Cancers occur in all living things. All lifeforms share similar DNA and RNA blueprints and cell physiology. Thanks for this post.

Thanks for this insight. I would have been surprised if this weren?t that position. But the manner in which you described it was to the say the least, ambiguous.

Hello,
I want to know about Blood Cancer (Acute lymphoblastic leukemia- Type B). My Brother-in-law got detected with the disease in April and his lifestyle and eating habits are very simple, he don't even took alcohol. He didn't have any medical issue previously except the 'Obesity' part. That's it. Then, what is the reason, why him? His age is only 40 years.
Please share, if you have any hint.

The step taken by the state government to invest $30 million translational cancer research is a respectful act. This should fasten the research to develop fast cure for the cancer. Cancer is actually eating up many people across the world and investments like these are an encouragement for the researches to continue with their research to wipe out this severe killer. Thanks!
